Its Fun to Play at the YMCA
Date: 20th June 2009
Pictured (L-R) are Jeff Fowkes (YMCA Chairman) and Eric Stallard (YMCA Secretary) receiving the cheque from Gordon McRae of Airdrie and District Round Table. We recently made a donation of 350 pounds to Airdrie YMCA to assist in funding the wide range of activities that the YMCA organises within the community. Activities include karate, gymnastics, chess, badminton and a disco for local youngsters and are open to all young people.

Big Boys Day Out

Its a Knockout

We were VICTORIOUS in our round of this years Its A Knockout competition. A great time was had by all and St Andrews Hospice received a five hundred pound donation also.

Schools Cup Final

Michael Dunn of St Andrews High School is seen receiving his Man of the Match Trophy from Lindsay Williamson, Secretary of Airdrie and District Round Table, after the recent United Schools Cup Final at New Broomfield. We have been supporting the United Schools Cup since it began and are very proud to sponsor the cup, medals and man of the match Trophy.

50th Charter Dinner

Childline

We are currently working with Sarah to see how best the Round Table can help this worthwhile cause. Shinty

We were delighted to donate strips to Camanachd Chearcall Lannraig A Tuathare (translation: North Lanarkshire Shinty Circle) a new Shinty team in North Lanarkshire, based at Townhead Community Centre, Coatbridge. The club is aimed at children aged 5-14 years who are interested in taking part in a unique game which is rapidly spreading across the central belt.

Real Radio Visit

Bells Bakers

We visited Bells Bakers, along with Ronnie Miles (3rd from left), Bells Bakers Company Secretary and past Round Table Chairman for a tour of the company's Hawthorn Bakery in Shotts. The tour and talk was conducted by Ronnie who made it both very interesting and entertaining for the Tablers.

Park Bench

Airdrie and District Round Table donated money for the monoblock and the bench (that Iain Jamieson is sitting on!!) as part of the park refurbishment for the Friends of West End Park. Also pictured are Douglas Allan and Norbert Grant. This donation was to help improve the park for all its patrons.

We've gone NATIONWIDE !!

We have been nominated in the Groups category (Scotland Region), for the Nationwide Community and Heritage Awards 2008. Iain Jamieson, chairman said, We were all absolutely delighted to receive such an honour especially as we were nominated along with a substantial number of other Community Groups. Inter-School Rocketry Competition

St Patricks Primary, Golfhill Primary, Woodlands Primary and Greengairs Primary took part in the Second North Lanarkshire Inter-School Rocketry Competition for the Peter Holt Trophy. A great day was had with the eventual winners being Golfhill Primary - well done!!

We took part in the annual St. Andrews Hospice Its a Knockout tournament at Strathclyde Park on Saturday 31st May. We teamed up with Taskmaster and, after a fun morning, ended up a creditable, erm...last!!

50 years of Serving the Community
