A seed which was sown a few years ago when Airdrie and District Tablers ventured out on their first ever International visit flowered on Saturday 14th May 2005 at the National Conference of RTBI in Glasgow.

For the first time ever a twinning ceremony actually took place on the stage at the AGM when RTBI National President Adrian Gibbons and RTI World President Tom Albringen congratulated Norbert Grant (Airdrie and District Chairman) and Paul Victor (RT Gibraltar President) as the Tables confirmed their twinning.

As a first step, the Tables made a joint presentation of football shirts from their local communities to the Round Table International appeal for sports goods to be auctioned on e-Bay for the tsunami victims.  A truly Tabling way to kick off the twinning.

Both Tables are committed to making this the start of a long and fruitful process of good will and international relations between the Tables.  We look forward to the future.

Some photos of the events...

We start off with some Friday night fun and games at the
Cumbernauld Outdoor Activity Centre!

L-R, Paul, Gordon, Kailash, Stephen, Norbert, Charlie, Douglas, John, Lindsay, Colin M.

Team #1 : "Tartan Army." Have you ever seen such a braw looking bunch of athletes?

Team #2 "???" Pretty weak and wimpy looking really (well, I do the website and I can say what I want (webmaster))

Stephen get's right down to business in the target shooting.

John scores a perfect 300 in the Archery

After his perfect 300 at the bow and arrow, John reckons he should be blindfolded for the 4x4 driving!

McReyes let's one go!

Big Stephen in pose mode

The Tartan Army... some of these men are now loose in the Cumbernauld woods

In the end there could be only one winning team... and the Tartan Army came out on top... this time.

A couple of the better looking birds we met that night ;-)

Lovely bird the Norwegian Blue... beautiful plumage

A good time was had by all!

Next, we introduced the Gib guys to Curryoke...
where Stephen was presented with Best Performer trophy
and KK with the "Must do better next-time" award.

The Gibraltar boys showed off their tour T-shirts... front...

and back... with full Scottish theme!

And everyone got down to a bit of chanting...

Lindsay "I've got rhythm" W

Charlie and Paul "Tragedeeee"...
...and it was!

Oh, Carol... Paul hams it up with the
local... errr babes?

Full Gib team wow the staff... in Spanish!

Gordon and Paul can't get to grips with the Twinning Tankard rules!?!

Nevertheless, John decides to present it to Paul and Norbert

Paul presents a new trophy for Airdrie International Tabler

And Paul also presents a commemorative paperweight for every Airdrie Tabler and 41'er

After the games and the gifts and the singing we round the night off with a curryoke conga!

On Saturday, the serious part begins.
Airdrie and Gibraltar present local football strips for the RTI Tsunami sports auction appeal

John Tewkesbury (41 Club Gibraltar President), Norbert Grant (Airdrie and District RT Chairman) and Paul Victor (President RT Gibraltar) cement the twinning with a sign of true friendship

Just to show that humour is never very far away...

KK shows off his top IRO jewel... as worn on stage at RTBI National Conference

Then proceeds to eat it.  thank you Starbucks for a memorable... and very tasty piece of regalia
